This exceptional restored 1970 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster is the best driving, most complete and sorted series 2 E-Type we have ever had the pleasure of keeping in our inventory. It has traveled just 1,107 miles since its restoration work was completed.
Built for North American delivery this XKE was built July 2, 1969 and dispatched August 13, 1969 to British Motor Holdings, Canada. Chassis number 1R9876 was produced with a Beige interior as shown today and Sable paint which has been upgraded to a full repaint of British Racing Green. It is believed this 1979 Jaguar XKE Series II Roadster has lived in Canada since day one with current mileage to be tru miles traveled. Restored in the late 2000’s by E-type specialists including our trusted partners at Coachwerks. We sent the car back to Coachwerks to ensure this car is ready for spirited driving and display at your future events. Test driven in the 30+ degree summer heat through the winding local roads the car performed flawlessly.
The restoration of this car is documented with receipts for mechanical, interior purchase and installation, body, paint, brightwork and parts. Restoration was commenced in 2008 after the purchase of the car by local British car enthusiast and collector Mr. Chisholm. Known for his enthusiasm in the restoration of collector cars Mr.Chisholm then sold it in 2015 to another local collector where it stayed in a collection with very limited mileage. The E-Type stayed in that collection until we purchased it in the end of 2022.
The Jaguar Heritage Trust has issued their official Jaguar Heritage Certificate certifying the original serial numbers of the car from the time it was built. These numbers include the chassis number which shows this car to be a numbers matching chassis with period correct 4.2L engine number.
This car presents extremely well with mirror like finish in the paint. Documents from Coachwerks show a total cost of $25,000 in 2008 for the disassembly, paint, reassembly and wet sanding. New Bisquet leather interior was installed along with a new carpet set and Beige canvas soft top by Styles Upholstery in 2008 during restoration at a cost of $12,300. Sussex Automotive performed mechanical refurbishment over the course of 3 months in 2008 covering a large array of component including some major parts. A new clutch kit and components were fitted as well as a new triple SU carburetor setup. While at Sussex Automotive a total of $21,800 was spent to make sure the car was performing correctly and ready to enjoy. This work was completed at 72,024 miles.
