1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2

This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 was delivered new on December 13, 1987 in Santa Cruz California at Porsche Audi Santa Cruz. The car was imported into Vancouver, BC in the early 90’s with recorded services starting in 1995 at MCL Porsche Vancouver.  Finished in its original colours of L980 Silver Metallic over LX Burgundy partial leather interior. The car has remained on the west coast since it entered Canada from California. The past 9 years of single ownership was in Victoria, BC by a former Porsche employee where it was driven serviced and driven regularly.  The car comes retains its original owners manual and service book, which includes service entries. This 911 3.2 also has a complete binder full of hard copy service history documents and photos from 77,233 up until current. These documents include both full engine out re-seal services with photographs.

1987 was the first year that Porsche offered the G50 transmission in the Carrera 3.2 and it remains today as what sets apart earlier 911’s from the 87-89 G50 cars as far as value. The upgrade from the earlier 915 transmission to the G50 was in strength, performance and feel. The G50 delivers a smoother and more precise shift in comparison to a similar mileage 915. The “G Body” or G-Series” 911’s have quickly become one of the most widely desirable and sought after generation of air cooled 911s in the used market.

When the 911 Carrera 3.2 was introduced in 1984 Porsche upgraded their 911 to a new motor, the 3.2 L flat 6. This was an upgrade over the previous SC generation cars that had a lower compression 3.0L. This new 3.2 produced 200HP utilizing 10.3:1 compression and new components compared to the outgoing engine. This new power plant propelled the little 911 to 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds, extremely respectful even in today’s standards.

The previous owner of nearly a decade chose to upgrade the car during his ownership with the addition of some tasteful and performance modifications. The exhaust was upgraded using a Flowmaster muffler and custom mandrel bent piping to create a very “perfect” note without drone or overpowering noise. Brakes were upgraded to Porsche 987 Monoblock calibers, 930 Turbo cross drilled rotors and Pagid Yellow brake pads. This combination allowed the factory Fuchs wheels to be used while greatly upgrading stopping power. The car was then lowered 20mm to “European” ride height for increased handling. The front suspension was linked with a strut tower cross brace for further handling improvements. The radio and speakers were tastefully upgraded to a modern bluetooth capable system that sounds fantastic.

Included in the sale is a large binder that documents the cars history of service from 1999 to present. The original service and warranty book documents mileage and service from 279 miles in 1987 up until 1997 and 64,741 miles. The hard copy paper documents take over in 1999 at 77,233 and continue to present day. Original tools and tool roll are still present along with the tire inflation kit and jack.

This is a great driving classic air cooled G-series Porsche 911 with a killer color combination, incredibly documented history, extensive servicing and one of the most sought after years (1987-1989) with the 5-speed G50 transmission.
