One of only 250 Roadsters built for 1961, this beautifully presented 300SL (chassis 10-002844) is among the most desirable of its kind, featuring factory four-wheel Dunlop disc brakes, fitted hardtop, and the bulletproof cast iron block engine -- the ultimate road going specification. This example was subject to a year and a half frame-on restoration by marque experts, Coachwerks Restoration, including a new interior, complete engine and driveline rebuild and brake and fuel systems overhaul.
All stampings and tags correlate to the factory data card. This Roadster ticks all the boxes, being the best possible technical specification (disc brake, iron block), complete with factory hard top, luggage, and completely mechanically sorted. It is ready for touring, or concours events. The color combination of DB 396 blue metallic over tan leather is both sporting and elegant. It stands out amongst the sea of silver, black, red and white 300SLs.
