HISTORY

Chassis 06108 was completed at the Ferrari factory on September 17, 1973, an E-series 246 GTS finished in Rosso Chiaro (20-R-190) over Beige Connolly leather (VM 3218) with Daytona-style seats. It was a well-optioned US-specification car from new, fitted with factory air conditioning, power windows, and instruments in miles. The Scaglietti body carries internal number 2451.

The car was distributed through Bill Harrah’s Modern Classic Motors importership in Reno, Nevada, and assigned to Ferrari dealer Midway International Ltd. in San Diego, where it was sold new to a leasing company. After being leased by a San Diego physician for three years, the car remained in Southern California through several subsequent ownerships. The warranty and service booklet retains a record of the original sale, and service records from June 1974 document early maintenance including attention to the smog pump, carburetor leakage, and the air conditioning system.

By 1977, the car was being offered by Ferrari of San Diego at their 500 West A Street location. Period classified advertisements in the Los Angeles Times from January through September of that year describe it as a red/tan Dino Spyder sold new in San Diego, with an asking price of $24,500. A second owner in Orange County acquired the car around this time and retained it through 2000, when it was consigned at Ferrari Unlimited in Anaheim and sold at 99,940 miles on the five-digit odometer. The car was shown at Concorso Italiano in Carmel Valley in August 2001.

During the Southern California ownership period, Billy Gojkov of Ferrari Unlimited/Enzo Motors Limited in Anaheim performed a refurbishment, during which the car was repainted in its factory shade of Rosso Chiaro.

Ferrari Classiche issued Certificate of Authenticity No. 2421F in April 2014, confirming matching-numbers authenticity of chassis, engine, and gearbox per factory records. Engine number 11338 is stamped on the block and matches the Red Book and Massini documentation. The Red Book accompanies the car.

In 2016, the car was sold through Ferrari Newport Beach. It was displayed as part of the Ferrari 70th Anniversary Celebration at Pebble Beach in August 2017, where it received the People’s Choice award. Later that year it was exported to Germany, where it spent five years before returning to the United States. The car was subsequently sold through Silver Arrow Cars Ltd. in Victoria, British Columbia.

In March 2026, Coachwerks Restoration in Victoria performed a recommissioning service in preparation for sale. The work included an oil service, fuel system flush, carburetor adjustment and tuning, diagnosis and repair of a stuck choke, replacement of spark plugs and fuel filter, cleaning and re-lubing of the brakes with e-brake adjustment, diagnosis and repair of the marker lights, license plate lights, interior lights, and windshield washer system, replacement of the intake boot, weatherstrip adhesion, and installation of four new Michelin XWX 205/70VR14 tires.
