This thoroughly restored 1974 Jensen Interceptor has just received its full detail and service. Brought to us on consignment from long term ownership.
This gorgeous 440 Big Block Chrysler powered Jensen was purchased in 1988 by the current owners. The car enjoyed casual drives over the summer months from 1988 till 2009 when its current owners decided to freshen the car up. This of course, is usually a slippery slope and over the next 3 years the car made is rebirth. Mulsanne Motorcar Company Ltd began refurbishing the car and completed an engine rebuild, transmission, new wiring , new carpets and finally a bare metal repaint. Extensive documentation in invoices and photographs tell the story of the work by Mulsanne Motorcar on behalf of current ownership.
The Jensen Interceptor Mark III was a hand built grand touring car by Jensen Motors Inc in Staffordshire, England. Jensen powered their Interceptors with USA built Chrysler V8's and transmissions. This created a unique blend of European styling and brute American power. This specific car is powered by its rebuilt, original 440 cu big block V8 coupled to a 727 Torque Flight transmission. Go Street Electronic Fuel Injection System was fitted to the car in 2017 to provide improved drive-ability. The cars air conditioning was retrofitted to R134 gas and is functional however currently does not blow cold.
The interior shows and feels extremely well. Fitment in all panels is excellent with condition of leather and vinyls in extremely good condition. The wood features throughout show excellent with little to no degradation. There are no "old car" smells present and colour is at it should be.
There is no doubt that the Jensen Interceptor Mark III holds a unique place in classic cars and certainly the uniqueness of the British/American blend of design and power helped place Jensen in a class of its own.
The car comes with a hardcover photo album of the body restoration and new paint, pages of receipts and records, original Jensen sales brochures, original Jensen Interceptor Handbook and original Jensen Workshop Manual.
